Stomach Problems

Unfortunately, that's a natural by-product of living and eating for many people, and it only gets worse when your life-style is out of balance with your needs. None around this world is alien with the word Stomach upset or the Stomach problems, but not many are aware of the ways to treat them with ultra ease. 1. Vomiting: The causes for vomiting could be collected as viruses, bacteria, alcohol, and stress or even during pregnancy time. During such times, let your stomach rest. Don't eat or drink until you feel better (2 to 4 hours). Then start with tiny sips of clear non-carbonated fluids (e.g.: flat ginger-ale, 7-Up, or Gatorade) for another few hours. Rest until you feel better. The symptoms may be dehydration, decreased urine, dry mouth, dizziness while standing, and fatigue. If vomiting doesn't stop within 6 to 8 hours, or if you have fever over 100 degrees F., severe headache, or abdominal pain, seek immediate medical advice.

2. Heartburn and Indigestion: Heartburn results from stomach acids backing up into the esophagus, which connects the mouth to the stomach. Indigestion is that hard-to-describe upset feeling in your stomach. Consumption of Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, chocolate, citrus, tomato, peppermint, fried and fatty foods, over-eating, stress, some medications, may lead to such times. For precautions, it is suggested to avoid or moderate your use of the above, and eat smaller meals more frequently. For heartburn, do not lie down for four hours after eating, and raise the head of your bed 4-6 inches. Try an over-the-counter neutralizing antacid (e.g., generic Maalox or Mylanta), or an acid reducer. If it doesn't respond to self-help, persists more than two weeks, or if you have significant pain or weight loss.

3. Acute Stomach Pain: It could be defined as sharp pain anywhere in the upper or lower abdomen. The main causes behind this might be summarized as: Gas, constipation, menstrual cycle, stress, medications, peptic ulcer, or other potentially serious conditions. Self-Care: Rest, antacid, heat. Watch for: Fever or worsening pain. For pain that is severe or persistent, seek immediate medical service.

4. Diarrhea: It is defined as frequent and watery bowel movements. Viruses, bacteria, food poisoning, stress and specific food sensitivities account as the major causes for diarrhea. 5. Constipation: It is the result of excessively hard and infrequent stools, caused due to insufficient water and fiber, diet (e.g.: too much rice, cheese), lack of exercise, or even by occasionally medications.
